When did you first start training at CFKSQ? I have been going haphazardly to CFKSQ for a bit but just started going seriously this past year.
Favorite WOD: Murph( Hero WOD’s) and anything that is a long suffer-fest
Least Favorite WOD: I am trying to train my weaknesses so none (except Thrusters, I hate Thrusters!)
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I am an A.D.D. athlete so I dabbled in everything from traditional sports like Lacrosse, soccer and Wrestling to things like multi-day adventure race, OCR’s and triathlons.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? I first heard about Crossfit in early 2000’s but there were no gyms out here so I would do the WOD’s from the website at the Kennett Y; not realizing I was not supposed to take all of the breaks I did! My first true Crossfit workout was here at CFKSQ and I am sure it was Everett and Haggarty yelling at me!
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? I have dropped from 3 glasses of wine every night to 2 every other! Ha! I have seen increases in strength (no comments Rozich and Dietrich) and am eating a lot more healthy.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? It is way too addictive! I get antsy when I miss a few days.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFKSQ moments: I have had the opportunity to go to a number of other boxes and there is NOTHING like CFKSQ. The family and community feel is unlike anywhere else and the coaches are outstanding. They truly care for the fitness and well being of members and are willing to do anything to help them reach their goals.
*I would say my favorite thing I have seen is the changes of some members over time. Physical, mental and performance changes; it is awesome seeing. First pull-up, first power clean, first box jump- no miss (Tracey!)
*Doing a workout with my family, that was great!
Any advice for people just getting started? Do NOT be intimidated by the workouts or people around you and ignore the RX; perform constantly varied, functional movement at a high intensity for YOU. Have fun and cheer people on (except for Nolan and Castle, don’t cheer them on! 😊)
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? I have no talents so skiing, biking and being with my family, the latter being my favorite!

When did you first start training at CFKSQ? March 2015
Favorite WOD: Bench press, overhead squats, split jerks
Least Favorite WOD: Anything and everything with Burpees!
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I’ve always been active, playing sports (women’s fastpitch softball, racquetball). I love to bicycle, ski and walk/hike. I rode horses as a kid, then went to work after college and law school. I came back to the equestrian world after 25 years and now am an active equestrian.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? I’ve been a member of different gyms throughout the years and places I’ve lived. So, I was looking around the area for options and bumped into XFit. I thought I’ll give it a try and bam, I was hooked! It’s been so long since that first WOD but I do remember thinking “oh no!… I have no idea what’s on the white board and what it means. What’s a Power Snatch, Thruster, Split jerk?”
What sort of changes have you seen in
your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?
I am stronger than I ever thought I could be at any age I’ve been so far. It has increased my stamina with riding and
skiing and in everyday activities. I
feel better throughout the day, eating better and sleeping better.
What sort of changes in your life have
you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally
unexpected?
I’ve never been a morning person but now enjoy my 5/6am workouts with a wonderfully
supportive group of people.
Please share with us any favorite
CrossFit / CFKSQ moments:
I’m not a runner (almost as bad as burpees) and we had a WOD that began with a
fairly long run (in my opinion) then back in the box for box jumps etc. Phoebe and I decided to walk the run and we
started walking around the neighborhood, lost track of time, returned to the
box and the entire class was finished.
Any advice for people just getting
started?
Don’t be intimidated. Do you own workout
at your level and try not to compete with others, work towards achieving your
own personal best. Modifications are OK!
Gold stars are great.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Riding horses across our beautiful countryside. Land conservation and preservation. Horse show mom. Traveling
