Age: 15
School: Kennett High School
When did you first start training at CFKSQ? 3 years ago
What is both your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement?: My favorite movement is deadlifts and my least favorite movement is overhead squats.
What sport(s)/activities do you do outside of CrossFit?: I participate in high school soccer, as well as school track and travel soccer all year.
How did you first get introduced to CrossFit and what were your initial thoughts? I first got introduced to crossfit when my mom joined 5 years ago. I saw how happy it made her, and I knew that it was something I wanted to be a part of.
What sort of changes have you seen in your health and fitness since starting CF? I have been able to do so much more than I ever thought I would be able too. When I started out I had no strength or muscle at all, but now I am built up more muscle and endurance then I ever thought I would. I’m more confident on the soccer field and love setting more athletic goals to achieve.
What have you been able to do that you never would have thought possible?Handstand pushups, toes to bar or even lift more than an empty bar 😊
What do you hope to accomplish as you keep progressing in CrossFit?I hope to continue to push and challenge myself. I’d love to do a bar muscle up and I strive to beat Kevin McVey someday, even if I have to put extra weight in his vest.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFKSQ moments: One of my favorite crossfit memories is when I got to compete in the open with my mom. The atmosphere in the gym was thrilling. Everyone was so supportive and rooting for you through the whole competition. It’s amazing how hard it pushes you and gives you the potential for achieving firsts.
Any advice for people just getting started? My advice to new people would be to just keep pushing
yourself; everyone starts somewhere. Sometimes it feels like you just aren’t
making progress and it can be disheartening, but just trust in yourself and
know that you are getting stronger every day.
