When did you first start training at CFKSQ? May/June 2022

Favorite WOD: I never thought I would say this but maybe Nancy…

Least Favorite WOD: Anything with toes to bar

Tell us about your sports & fitness background: When I was younger, I enjoyed playing lots of sports including netball, Aussie rules and tennis but never stuck with anything for long. It wasn’t until I hit undergrad that I started to regularly go to the gym. Then in my postgraduate studies, I was lucky enough to share an office with two other fitness nuts who encouraged me to go to all sorts of group classes and eventually become a ZUU instructor and I’ve been hooked with group fitness ever since!

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? I knew of Crossfit for years before getting the courage to walk into a box and give it a go myself. I can’t remember what my first WOD was, but I do remember thinking to myself “Wow, you did it!”.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? Since starting CrossFit, I do feel physically stronger but the biggest change I’ve noticed is mentally. CrossFit is not only my daily stress reliever, but it has also helped me build my mental resilience and believe in myself.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? I know CrossFit always talks about community, but I never really understood until I lived it. I am so grateful to be apart of the community at our box, especially at times when I feel most home sick. Everyone there embraces and supports each other – lifting each other up!

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFKSQ moments: This year was my first time doing Murph and workout aside, the pure energy, determination, and pride in the box was amazing to be a part of!

Any advice for people just getting started? Consistency is important, record your progress in Wodify, and don’t be afraid to ask for help – from the coaches or other members, I’ve had so many aha moments from just talking to people and getting their advice!

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? I love exploring new places, going hiking, and drinking gin! If I want some quiet time at home, I will often bake.
